Formed in Dundalk, Ireland, Just Mustard consists of vocalist Katie Ball, guitarists David Noonan (also backing vocals) and Mete Kalyoncuoglu, bassist Rob Clarke, and drummer Shane Maguire. Their heady blend of noise, trip hop, and electronic-influenced music has helped them build a reputation as one of Ireland's most thrilling new bands, both live and on record. Their 2018 debut 'Wednesday' earned acclaim at home and abroad - most notably capturing a Choice Music Prize nomination for Irish Album of the Year.In summer 2021, the band announced their signing to Partisan records (Idles, Fontaines D.C., Cigarettes After Sex) for their sophomore release 'Heart Under'.
The album was produced by the band and mixed by David Wrench, whose previous collaborators include Frank Ocean, The XX, FKA twigs and beyond. 'Heart Under' was one of the most acclaimed rock records of 2022 so, landing #1 on the Independent Album Chart in Ireland, and a current spot at #8 in the Metacritic Best Albums of 2022 Chart.
Within a full marks review NME described the album as 'thrillingly untraditional' and warned 'the Dundalk five piece won't be put in any boxes at all' while Pitchfork dubbed the album as 'immersie and bewildering'. It's an album that asks you to forget what you know - at every turn, reconfiguring and stretching the ideas and ambition of a rock band, and turns a year of lockdown and personal struggles into a breathtaking artistic statement.
Just Mustard continued to grow their fantastic live reputation as one of the most talked about bands at SXSW in March ("There's simply no precedent for much of what Just Mustard is bringing to Shoegaze" - Austin Chronicle) and with a triumphant performance opening the John Peel stage at Glastonbury ("One of the best sets of the weekend" - NME).
The band who have previously supported The Cure, wrapped a worldwide tour with Fontaines D.C. and joined Wolf Alice for some dates before finishing the year with their headline, half way round the world tour of 'Heart Under' which is their second album to receive a Choice Music Prize nomination for Irish Album of the year.
This is a very exclusive show for Mayo when the indie group will be supported by Irish punks New Pagans and Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra
